Women’s Golf Finishes Second at Golfweek Fall Challenge

Led by top-ten finishes by Victoria LevyMinouche Rooijmans and Hannah Altman, the UNCW women’s golf team earned a second-place finish at the season-opening Golfweek Fall Challenge at Caledonia Golf and Fish Club on Tuesday afternoon.

The Seahawks (282-282-291=855) finished five strokes behind tournament champion Campbell, who posted a 283-team score in the final round to edge UNCW.

“I’m really proud of the team’s effort and play this week, said UNCW Head Coach Cindy Ho. “We gave ourselves a chance to win and just didn’t score well enough today. Congratulations to Campbell on a great tournament. We had many strong individual performances with Top 10’s from Victoria, Minouche and Hannah.”

Levy and Rooijman, playing as an individual, were in a three-way tie for sixth place with the Camels’ Alicia Olsson with three-under tournament scores. Both Seahawk golfers carded three-under 68 individual round scores with Levy’s occurring in the second round and Rooijmans in the third round.

Altman, meanwhile, posted three rounds of par or better, including a two-under 69 score on Monday’s first round.

Levy was fourth in the 90-player field with 12 birdies.

The Seahawks are next in action at the Furman Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C., from Sept. 20-22.
