For the 11th consecutive championship and the 19th time since the turn of the century, Illinois Wesleyan claimed the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Golf Championship, Saturday afternoon at Whitetail Ridge Golf Club in Yorkville, Ill.
Led by an even-par, 54-hole score of 213 from medalist Quinn Clifford, the Titans won the event with a final total of 865, a 39-stroke margin over second-place Carthage.
With the individual win hanging in the balance, Clifford parred the 17th and 18th holes Saturday to finish his round with a 74 and win the three-round event by a single stroke. William Davis of Elmhurst and IWU’s Bobby Beaubien finished tied for second at 214. Davis fired a 68 on Saturday, the low round of the day.
Five Titans finished in the top 10 to earn All-CCIW honors. Jackson Hulsey, who carded a tournament-best round of 67 in Thursday’s opening round, finished fourth at 216. Juney Bai tied for seventh with a three-day total of 224 and Griffin Pohl was ninth at 226.
Evan Bridges of Carroll was fifth on the individual leaderboard with a nine-over-par total of 222. Jonah Swartz of Wheaton was the sixth-place finisher at 223, while Carthage’s Tanner Angelstad tied for seventh with a 224 and Wheaton’s Tannen Reed tied for ninth at 226.
