2023 Qualifiers for THE PLAYERS and the Majors

Lucas Glover is headed back to the majors.

For the first time since his rookie season of 2004 on the PGA TOUR, Glover failed to qualify for at least one major this year, but come 2024, he’ll start a new streak thanks to Sunday’s victory at the Wyndham Championship.

Glover’s previous win at the John Deere Classic in 2021 yielded exemptions into the Masters and PGA Championship in 2022. The same goes for the Wyndham win as it concerns berths into the 2024 editions of the same two majors. It also secures a spot in the Sentry Tournament of Champions and THE PLAYERS Championship, among other invitationals.

He’s also now fully exempt as a TOUR member through the 2025 season. His status entering the week was in the winners category by virtue of the John Deere title, so he’s renewed that position in the ranks.

Winning opens all kinds of doors, of course, but the first one is entry into the FedExCup Playoffs. Lo and behold, for rising from 112th to 49th, the 43-year-old was the only golfer to crash the top 70 and qualify for the three-event series at the buzzer. He opened last year’s Playoffs with a T3 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship contested at TPC Southwind, so no one has stronger converging trends upon arrival in Memphis this week.
